What Is Car ECU?

The automobile ECM is an electronic computer which used in present day motor vehicles to manage its electronic components. Interpreting input from sensors and transmitting output to digital units, the engine control module control the appropriate operation of the car.
The ECU obtain data from other components in the motor vehicle as the crankshaft and camshaft sensors to effectively compute data such as cooling system, exhaust, fuel injector and a few other components to determind and manage the driving working state of the transmission, engine system such as the body functions, the fluid flow, the ignition/injection timing and more.
A simple illustration is the speed sensor located on the wheel which detects the wheel speed and send the data to the auto computer system. Using this infrastructure, instead of distributing messages to several modules from one sensor, the messages is being distributed by the vehicle's computer to all the devices that need this data like the ABS, suspension system, speedometer and more.
